A small hotel cafe bar in the Thai beach resort of Pak Meng. Here you can experience real Thailand. The resort is mainly used by Thai people so it's quite traditional and has a different atmosphere to a 'farang' resort. On the main beach strip there are dozens of good restaurants specialising in seafood, catering to Thai visitors who like to dine well on holiday. Most of these dining places have English menus for the few adventurous travellers who make it this far. There's a big beach, shady trees, and on busy days a carnival atmosphere. Other times, when it's not busy, it's a calm and restful place.
Our overseas guests come to Pak Meng to eat well and relax in these unique surroundings, or as a stop-off on the way to the islands of Koh Muk, Koh Kradang and Koh Ngai. Ferries to these islands set off from Pak Meng pier, a few kilometres away, and a day trip to the islands is one of the most popular activities.
The speciality of the cafe is genuine Italian coffee made using a machine imported from Italy. We also serve beer, shakes, and breakfast. For more substantial meals you can walk a few metres down the beach road in either direction.

Weekends and Thai holidays are our busy periods. In the Thai holiday off-season, which corresponds roughly to the northern hemisphere summer, Pak Meng closes down, including the Beach Cafe. You might not be able to get through by phone in this period but we still take advance email reservations. We accept payment by Thai Baht, Visa credit card, or major currencies by arrangement.
We have a small number of bungalows all with large double beds, a private bathroom and a veranda. Each room has a TV, refrigerator, and modern air-conditioning. There is free wifi throughout. The bathrooms and the cleaning are to Western standards. We can usually arrange additional children's beds for families. Car parking is off-street. Also we have a motorbike available for rent.

The nearest major town is Trang, about an hour away, and this can easily be reached by train or flight from Bangkok. Krabi airport is not much further away but there is no regular public transport from there to Pak Meng. From Trang there is a mini bus service to Pak Meng Beach in the mornings and through most of the afternoon. It's regular but doesn't have a timetable. The mini-bus station (there are others for other destinations) is about a kilometre east of Trang train station. Set off from the station keeping the tracks on your left and pass along a market street with the tracks still on your left but hidden behind the market shops. When you reach a main road, which crosses over the railway track, the mini-bus station is directly opposite, within sight of the railway crossing. Ask the driver for Pak Meng Beach Cafe. If they're not familiar with the cafe then they should know the simply-named 'Seafood Restaurant' next door, or 'Restaurant Ta-lay'.
Pak Meng pier is only a few kilometres from Pak Meng Beach, but it's not quite the same destination, so don't finish up there by accident.
